ABOUT ME
Hi, I am Dr. Edite Birnbaum
I have a diverse educational background and a strong passion for teaching. With a decade of experience as a corporate accountant and a decade of experience as a high-school math teacher, I bring a unique combination of expertise to my role as a Foundational Math Associate Professor at the Community College of Philadelphia.

My primary focus is to empower students and help them succeed in math. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a profession that I truly love, and I am committed to positively impacting my students' lives.
After completing my dissertation, I developed an innovative teaching strategy called A Winning Equation (AWEsum Strategy). This strategy aims to empower students by helping them approach their math studies more effectively, reduce anxiety, and foster persistence and perseverance. To enhance the learning experience, I incorporate a mindfulness-inspired tool known as The unSTUCK Method® and leverage carefully selected YouTube videos that promote a growth mindset and positive mathematical thinking.

I am in the final stages of creating an instructor's manual and a student companion booklet that complement the strategy, providing comprehensive support for educators and learners. These resources will further enhance the implementation of the AWEsum Strategy, enabling students to develop a solid foundation in mathematics. It is worth noting that a recent survey indicated that over 95% of students found the strategy helpful and beneficial, with more than 50% stating that it influenced their decision to continue their education.
